Community Services League is proud to partner with Stewardship Capital for the second consecutive year as the Presenting Sponsor of Ooh! Stewardship Capital and its employees are steadfast champions of philanthropy in Eastern Jackson County, and great supporters of the work we do for our neighbors in poverty.

When Ron Finke started the firm in 1997, he believed that by helping clients succeed financially, they would have greater resources – including time and money – to invest in improving the lives of others. Through the years, he has never wavered from this goal.

Not only does Stewardship Capital help its clients, but as a company they practice generosity every day by donating 10% of all management fees to local nonprofits, and by encouraging employees to volunteer!

Through the years, Stewardship Capital has partnered with dozens of agencies, and received a number of accolades for their community investment.  They even dedicate a page on their website to charitable causes.

Meet Tammy.

Tammy was a stay-at-home mom and had not worked outside the house for some time. Following her divorce, she found herself jobless and needing a steady income.

When Tammy came to CSL, Work Express helped her create a résumé, she used the computer lab, and was given job leads.

Tammy and her daughter also received help with school supplies, the Christmas store, and emergency assistance to help make ends meet.

It was important to Tammy that she found a job that allowed her to be home when her daughter was home. Through perseverance, she found a job with the Independence School District. Today, Tammy is giving back by working as a volunteer for CSL, and assists annually at CSL's Noland Road office Christmas Store.

Shortly after arriving at CSL, our team learned that due to a mental health disability, Jane and her family qualified for our Permanent Supportive Housing Program.  Thanks to the support of CSL paying their monthly rent, Jane and her two daughters have been comfortably housed for the last three years allowing them to focus on strengthening their family and their finances.

As is the case with many families struggling to climb out of poverty, Jane had a title loan on her previous car with an interest rate of 179.88%!  With Jane desiring to attend community college to help move her family forward, and her eldest daughter being offered a scholarship to attend O’Hara High School, a more reliable and affordable car was desperately needed by their family.  Our very own...
