ESTATE GIVING

BESS WALLACE TRUMAN LEGACY SOCIETY

Community Services League has been serving our neighbors in need since 1916. As long as there is a need in our community, the strength, stability, and continuity of service CSL provides, must be maintained for future generations.

The purpose of the Bess Wallace Truman Legacy Society is to connect donors with unique estate giving opportunities continue to strengthen the CSL mission. Individuals who have made a bequest or estate gift to CSL are welcomed as members in the Bess Wallace Truman Legacy Society. Members are regularly recognized and thanked for their enduring generosity.

Why Bess Wallace Truman?

When CSL was founded in 1916, a group of 22 young women, all part of an ecumenical Bible study group, decided that they needed to form an organization that would help care for their neighbors in need.

A young Bess Wallace, who later became First Lady Bess Wallace Truman, was one of the women who founded CSL and helped put it on a path to remain successful since the beginning.

Throughout her public and private service, Bess Truman always cared for those in need. With her founding connections to CSL, and her legacy of care and support, we thought it natural to name our estate giving organization the Bess Wallace Truman Legacy Society.

Estate giving options

There are many estate giving options. Often a planned gift can help you make a more significant contribution than you might have otherwise imagined – without sacrificing income or security for your own family. A bequest in your will or living trust lets you take care of loved ones first and make a remarkable difference in the lives of others. Naming us among the beneficiaries of your retirement plan can help your heirs avoid double taxation while sharing your generosity with our families as well. The gift of life insurance transforms an investment into a much larger benefit – both for you and for the families we serve.

We also respect that some donors prefer anonymity. We would invite you to let us know about your plans on a confidential basis in any case. This greatly helps us plan wisely for the future. To let us know that we are in your will or estate plans, please email CSL's Chief Development Officer, Jennifer Hurst or call at (816) 491-2011.
