TAX CREDITS

Community Services League has Missouri Food Pantry Tax Credits and Neighborhood Assistance Program Tax Credits available for donors who make gifts to CSL. Both fund much needed services at the agency and both are 50% credits. See details below on taxpayer eligibility and qualifying gifts.

Missouri Food Pantry Tax Credits (MO-FPT)

MO-FPT credits are available annually. These are 50% credits that can be used over three years of tax liability. Any taxpayer (individual, corporation, or trust) that makes a donation of cash or food supplies to a food pantry may receive a credit of up to $2,500 per taxpayer per year. The taxpayer may take a credit of 50% of their donations. Individual taxpayers could make up to a $5000 gift and apply for $2500 in these credits.

CSL issues MO-FPT tax credit forms to donors each January via the mail that document their gift history. Donors need only take the forms to their tax preparer to receive the credits.

Missouri Neighborhood Assistance Program Tax Credits (NAP)

CSL was awarded $249,978 in Missouri Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credits for the tax years of 2022 and 2023. We can generate $499,956 in philanthropy with those credits from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023. NAP credits are 50% credits that can be applied over five years of tax liability.

Unlike Missouri Food Pantry Tax credits, there is “no credit per taxpayer limit” on Missouri Neighborhood Assistance Program credits, however you must have business tax liability to apply for these credits. Eligible Contributors can make a gift in any amount and apply for NAP credits. Funds raised benefit CSL’s Workforce Development Program.

Redeeming NAP credits requires the donor submit a copy of their cancelled check and bank statement or their credit card billing statement that reflects the gift to CSL, along with a Missouri application form that CSL issues. Application forms are notarized and signed by the donor. CSL then completes the paperwork and submits it to the State. The State sends CSL the tax credit certificate.
